CAIRO, Nov 14 (Xinhua) -- Equatorial Guinea will replace Morocco to host the finals of Africa Cup of Nations, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced in a statement on Friday.
According to the statement, the Executive Committe of CAF confirmed that the Orange Africa Cup of Nations 2015 will be held in Equatorial Guinea on dates agreed, and the national team of the host country is qualified for the final tournament.
The CAF announced last Sunday after a meeting of its executive committee in the Egyptian capital Cairo that Morocco will not host the 2015 Orange Africa Cup of Nations due to its request for postponement.
The top African football competition is scheduled to be held from Jan. 17 to Feb. 8, 2015 and Morocco as host requested its delay over fears of Ebola outbreak that has reportedly killed more than 4,500 people in some West African countries.
Equatorial Guinea, who hosted the 2012 finals with Gabon, will stage the finals in its cities of Malabo, Bata, Mongomo and Ebebiyin. The draw for the finals will take place Wednesday, December 3, 2014 in Malabo, added the statement.
CAF, with a membership of 54, is the governing body of African Football and was founded in 1957. Egypt, along with Sudan, Ethiopia and South Africa, is the founding member and the base of CAF secretariat.
